Today is Sunday, and I can think of nothing more appropriate than citing a few scriptures for the day. In Leviticus 19:18…but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself…and in Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Then in John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. Are we not just to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, but to love each other as Christ loves us–a much greater charge–and an example of how Jesus came to fulfill the law. Since Jesus suffered for our sins with His atonement, to love someone as Jesus loves us gives us infinite possibilities for demonstrating and surrounding others with our love.
